Introduction
The "Map" tab allows a dispatcher or fleet manager to create and send specific routes to drivers that have been added to the COMMAND fleet. You can use Trucker Path's POIs (points of interest) to plan and schedule routes for drivers to take on their trips. Avoid tolls, tunnels, harsh turns, and unpaved roads using the route options, and even help drivers find the cheapest truck stops to fuel up.
Summary
To access the "Map" tab, click the "Map" module on the left-hand side of the screen.
Plan a route
Start by entering all of the specific stops you want the driver to go to in the upper right-hand corner. You can add multiple stops by clicking "+ Add a Stop" between the start and destination of the trip.
You can also click POIs on the map to view location information and even add that specific stop to the route.
Trip Settings
Click the dropdown titled "Settings" to adjust things like your vehicle dimensions, Route Options, Fuel Settings for the vehicle and trip.
Stop Options
To add time-specific details, click on "Stop Option" at the top of the page. This will allow you to add more details about each stop including: Departure Times, Break length, and even how long they have to complete a pick up or delivery. In the end, this will update the travel times and give a more accurate ETA for when the driver will arrive.
Once you have all of your settings and locations built out, click the "Route" button to show the recommended routes you can send to the driver.
In this example, you can see that it has generated 3 different route options. These typically show the fastest and shortest route, then routes that will avoid tolls and hills to make the route more efficient but can take additional time.
You will also notice the system will show total travel time, distance, and the estimated cost in toll fees below these route options.
Show POIs on Trip
If you would like to see specific POIs along the intended route, select the POIs you would like to see under the "Places" dropdown and then select "Hide POI on trip". We will view Love's Truck Stops along this route.
Fuel Optimization
To add optimize the fuel stops for a specific trip, click on the "Use Fuel Plan" notification or the "Report" button at the bottom of the page next to "Send Route".
From the "Fuel Plan" tab, you can adjust all of the truck's fuel settings (This will be imported if ELD is connected in the future.) and even select specific chains of truck stops you would like your driver to fill up at.
Once completed, you can click on "Apply to Trip" to add each fuel stop to the driver's itinerary with exactly how many gallons they should add at each stop to optimize fuel purchasing.
Send Route
Lastly, once you have all of the settings selected, you can click "Send Route". This will populate a list of your Command users and allow you to send this trip via text message or in-app notification to the driver of your choice.
