How to Create and Use Custom POIs (Points of Interest)

For NAV PRO Customers

Custom POIs help your fleet create precise map locations—truck gates, docks, yards, or other important spots—directly inside NAV PRO. These POIs appear for both dispatchers and drivers, ensuring accurate routing to the correct entrance or destination every time.

What Are Custom POIs?

Custom POIs are manually created locations used to improve routing accuracy for your fleet. They are ideal for:

  • Truck-only gates or entrances

  • Customer docks and delivery doors

  • Company yards and terminals

  • Fuel or service locations not found in public map data

  • Any location requiring precise pin placement

How to Create a Custom POI in NAV PRO

  1. Log into NAV PRO

  2. Click MORE

  3. Select POIs

  4. Click the map (then Add POI) or search an address to Add New POI

  5. Be sure to enter:

    Location Name

    Address or LAT/LONG

    Category

    Site Instructions (optional)

  6. Add any entrance or exits paths if needed (you can use road path if roads are available or you can use off-grid path if the roads are not yet available on our mapping layer)

  7. Click Save

Your custom POI is now available to use.

How to Use Custom POIs in NAV PRO

  1. Open NAV PRO

  2. Click the Map tab

  3. Search for your custom POI

  4. Select it and create a route

  5. Click Send to Driver

How Drivers Access Custom POIs

Custom POIs automatically sync to the Trucker Path Driver App for drivers in your fleet.

Drivers can access them by:

  1. Opening the Driver App

  2. Tapping Search

  3. Selecting POIs

  4. Choosing the custom location

  5. Starting navigation

Best Practices

  • Always pin truck entrances—not office/main entrances

  • Use clear names (e.g., Costco Dallas – Gate 4 – Truck Entrance)

  • Add helpful notes (dock numbers, instructions, gate hours)

  • Use LAT/LONG when exact precision is needed

Troubleshooting

Custom POI not appearing for drivers

  • Confirm the POI was saved to your fleet

  • Ensure the driver is assigned to a Driver Group

  • Verify the POI is synced to the app for that group

  • Have the driver refresh the app or update offline maps

Routing to the wrong spot

  • Double-check pin placement

  • Ensure the pin is placed on the correct road or entrance

  • Verify the driver’s routing profile is correctly assigned

POI not showing up in search

  • Search using only part of the name

  • Confirm the POI category is correct

  • Ensure the POI is synced to the driver’s group
