How to Apply Routing Profiles to Drivers

This article explains how to correctly apply routing profile settings for fleets, including truck dimensions, vehicle restrictions, and assigning profiles to drivers in NAV PRO and the Trucker Path App.

How to Create and Apply Routing Profiles

1. Create or Edit a Routing Profile

Routing profiles can be created or modified by navigating to:

MORE > Routing Profiles > Add New Setting (upper right corner)

Here you can add a new profile or edit a current one by clicking the Add New Setting or by clicking the ellipsis next to the routing profile you want to change then Edit.

To create a new profile:

  1. Go to MORE.

  2. Select Routing Profiles.

  3. Click Add New Setting in the upper right corner.

  4. Enter all truck dimensions:

Height

Weight (GVW)

Width

Length (Truck & Trailer)

Axles

Trailer count

  1. Add optional settings if needed:

Custom avoided areas

Setting Avoided Bridges (currently only available in FL)

Setting Preferred Lanes

  1. Click Save.

To edit an existing profile:

  1. Go to MORE > Routing Profiles

  2. Tap the ellipsis next to the profile you want to modify

  3. Click Edit

  4. Make necessary changes

  5. Click Save

2. Apply the Routing Profile to a Driver Group

Once the routing profile is saved, it must be linked to a driver group to be applied in NAV PRO:

MORE > Drivers > Group > Select Group > Routing Profile

Inside the Routing Profile section for the group, you can use two different configuration options:

A) Default Routing Profile (Toggle Switch — Only One Allowed)

  • Only one profile can be toggled ON as the default.

  • All drivers in the group will automatically use this profile.

  • Drivers cannot change their routing profile in the app.

  • Best for fleets with consistent, unchanging equipment.

Used For:

✔ Standard fleets
✔ Uniform trailer setups
✔ Preventing driver misconfiguration

B) Sync to App (Checkbox — Multiple Allowed)

  • Check multiple profiles to make them available in the driver’s app.

  • Drivers can switch between profiles as needed.

  • Ideal for fleets whose trucks may be over-dimensional (OD) at times or use multiple trailer configurations.

Used For:

✔ Fleets with variable equipment
✔ Occasional OD loads
✔ Drivers who need profile selection flexibility

After updating the settings, click Save.

3. Verifying That a Routing Profile Is Applied

In NAV PRO

  • Recreate a route matching the driver’s start/end points.

  • Confirm routing reflects the intended dimensions.

On the Driver’s Device

Ask the driver to verify or select their routing profile by doing the following:

  1. Open the Trucker Path app

  2. Tap the ellipsis (More) in the bottom-left corner

  3. Tap Trip Settings

  4. Under Optimize Routing for Trucks, tap Manage

  5. Tap the routing profile they want to use

Notes:

  • If multiple profiles were synced, all will be listed here.

  • If only a default profile is applied, only that profile will appear.

Troubleshooting Routing Profile Issues

Profile Not Applying to Driver

  1. Confirm the driver is placed in the correct driver group

  2. Confirm the default toggle or sync-to-app checkboxes are configured correctly

  3. Ask the driver to restart the app

If still not applying → escalate via JIRA.

Incorrect Routing After Applying Profile

  1. Recreate the route in NAV PRO

  2. Validate the dimensions in the profile

  3. Confirm the driver selected the correct profile (if multiple synced)

If routing still appears incorrect → escalate via JIRA.
